| To address the issue of asthmagen, the following criteria has been included in the standard:
Section 6(i) Product must demonstrate of having a maximum allowable concentration of subtilisins in the product such that the TWA of an employee’s exposure to subtilisin shall not exceed 60 ng/m3-crystalline active pure enzyme. A suitable measurement method is the fluorescence polarization technique developed by the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL). The limit is based on standard personal sampling (General methods for sampling and gravimetric analysis of respirable and inhalable dust MDHS 14/3 (Third edition) HSE Books 2000 ISBN 0 7176 1749 1)
We wish to know whether you think that the criteria is sufficient to address the issue. If not, please advise on better alternatives?
